Are you Addicted?

Is it only alcohol and drugs that cause addiction? Oh no. Love, romance, disappointment, food, movies, news, reading, entertainment, games, prayer, anything in excess is an addiction.

Overeating, gossiping, trying to be part of every event, insisting on knowing all the news, trying to know every topic in the world, not being able to separate from a spouse, parents or children, focusing too much on beauty, blind devotion, uncontrolled social media, and focusing too much on sports and exercise are all signs of addiction.

Too much of anything can lead to addiction, acute depression, and premature death. Our addiction can be identified by understanding what we spend most of our 24 hours a day on, the urge to do something over and over again, and the desire to feel good about something even though we know it’s wrong.

Deliberately abstaining from such things, becoming more involved in another subject of interest, praying, meditating, and associating with people who speak only positively can help in breaking the addiction. Remember, don’t hesitate to seek professional help if needed.

Wishing you an addiction-free, balanced life.
